MARIA JOSEFINA MBA WRIGHT, MD, FAAP – Advocacy Committee Co-Chair
Dr Mba Wright is currently a medical consultant for the Golden Gate Regional Center (“GGRC”) in San Francisco. She joined the GGRC in May of 2023. Prior to this, she worked for Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento (“Kaiser”) as a general pediatrician for 17+ years. During her tenure at Kaiser, Dr. Mba Wright was actively involved in multiple initiatives to improve health equity for the Hispanic and African American members. She has published a few articles on various subjects including race, heart health and hormone therapy in teens. Completing her undergraduate studies at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, Dr. Mba Wright attended medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville Tennessee and completed both internship and residency at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. Born in Madrid, Spain, she was raised in both Europe and Africa and is originally from the only African former Spanish colony, Equatorial Guinea. Dr. Mba Wright is fluent in Spanish and English. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, yoga and traveling.
