California Chapter 1, American Academy of Pediatrics is comprised of over 2,000 active and retired pediatricians. Our chapter has 11 regions which include 48 counties in Northern and Central California. We are one of the largest American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) chapters in the United States. Our mission is to promote optimal health and development of the children and adolescents of Northern and Central California in partnership with their families and communities, and to support the pediatricians who care for them. We offer opportunities for members to connect and engage with other members in order to inspire positive change at the local level:
- Two CME conferences per year with opportunities for post conference networking: a Spring CME conference and an Annual Pediatric Puzzles on the first Saturday of December
- Monthly Chapter Newsletter that provides the latest updates on local advocacy, events, and opportunities
- Opportunity to participate in a variety of Chapter Committees including Advocacy, Continuing Medical Education, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Foster Care, Mental Health and School Health
We are involved with all of the pediatric training programs in Northern and Central California and have members at large representing different areas throughout the region. Recognizing local needs and acting upon them is the core of what the AAP California Chapter 1 (AAPCA1) represents and we hope to support our members at all levels.
If there is no representative in your area, we welcome you to become that leader.
