SWETANG SHAH, MD, MPH, FAAP – Santa Clara Area Director

I am a board-certified pediatrician and Clinical Director at Bay Area Community Health, where I lead system-level efficiency, productivity, and quality improvement across child and adult care. My research in trauma-informed care and developmental screening informs policy and practice changes that accelerate early intervention and equitable access. I design and lead QI projects that integrate AI to streamline workflows, enhance risk stratification, and deliver measurable outcomes. As an adjunct clinical associate professor at A.T. Still University and Duke University, I mentor medical students and PAs in community-based rotations grounded in equity and real-world impact. I frequently present at national and statewide forums including Pediatric Academic Societies, HLTH and the California School-Based Health Alliance translating evidence into practical tools teams can use on Monday morning. Professional communities matter to me: I’m active with the AAP Artificial Intelligence Special Interest Group and the Santa Clara County Medical Association. Outside clinic, I bring a competitor’s mindset as national-level cricket champion, avid ping-pong player and I’m currently learning golf and skiing to keep my edge and curiosity sharp. At AAP-CA1, I’m committed to advancing pediatric policy, share my expertise in grants and fundraising, scaling high-impact mental health QI, and mentoring the next generation of leaders in community pediatrics.
