Meet Our Guest Speaker

Dr. Reshma Shah, MD, MPH, FAAP

Dr. Reshma Shah is a board-certified pediatrician and Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Stanford University. She is co-author of the award-winning book Nourish: The Definitive Plant-Based Nutrition Guide for Families and a contributing author to the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Pediatric Nutrition textbook. She also serves as Co-Director of the Learning Center at Plant-Based Juniors. She has additional training and certification in plant-based nutrition and cooking. Dr. Shah lives in the Bay Area with her family. Most Sundays you can find her at the local farmers market, where she finds inspiration for family meals.

Dr. V. Sushma Chamarthi, MD, FAAP, DABOM – Chair

Dr. V. Sushma Chamarthi is a pediatrician and Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) with more than 15 years of clinical experience, including eight years serving children and families in California’s Central Valley. Practicing at Valley Children’s Healthcare in Fresno, she is a strong advocate for underserved and rural communities, where she focuses on the early recognition, prevention, and treatment of childhood obesity to reduce long-term comorbidities.

 

Dr. Vaishali Benaka Hebbar, MD, FAAP – Vice Chair

Dr. Vaishali B. Hebbar is a dedicated pediatrician with a strong focus on nutrition, preventive care, and advancing health equity in underserved communities. She is committed to addressing the root causes of health disparities by promoting access to early interventions and family-centered care. Through her clinical work, Dr. Hebbar emphasizes the importance of empowering families with the tools and resources needed to support children’s long-term health and well-being.
