We invite you to join AAP California Chapter 1 for an in-person nutrition education talk on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Indian Kebab Palace, 1552 E Champlain Dr, Fresno, CA 93720. This session will explore the identification, assessment, and management of pediatric undernutrition and overnutrition. Participants will learn about evidence-based screening tools, social determinants of health, interdisciplinary care, and Central Valley resources that support equitable pediatric nutrition interventions.

Speakers
Dr. V. Sushma Chamarthi, MD, FAAP, DABOM – Childhood Obesity & Prevention Committee Chair
Dr. V. Sushma Chamarthi is a pediatrician and Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) with more than 15 years of clinical experience, including eight years serving children and families in California’s Central Valley. Practicing at Valley Children’s Healthcare in Fresno, she is a strong advocate for underserved and rural communities, where she focuses on the early recognition, prevention, and treatment of childhood obesity to reduce long-term comorbidities.
Mina Patel, DNP, RN, CPNP-PC – President, NAPNAP
Minal was born in India and raised in Zambia, coming to the U.S. in 2000. She earned her BSN from Western Michigan University, her MSN from Western Governors University, and completed her PNP training at Fresno State, later earning her DNP. She spent over 10 years at Valley Children’s Hospital across multiple nursing roles and now practices with Clovis Pediatric Group, while mentoring and precepting nursing/PNP students from several universities.
Dr. Archana Lingannan, MD – Pediatric Gastroenterologist, Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group

Dr. Lingannan earned her medical degree with honors from I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. She completed her pediatric residency at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center and a fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Her clinical interests include Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Nutrition Education; she runs the Feeding Clinic and is a provider in the IBD Clinic at Valley Children’s Hospital. She is also currently training in gut-directed hypnotherapy for pediatric DGBIs and intestinal ultrasound for IBD.
