The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is recruiting a full-time faculty member for appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank of the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X series. Academic rank is commensurate with experience. This position will be based at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG), the UCSF-affiliated safety net hospital for the city and county of San Francisco.
The successful candidate will be a board certified general pediatrician and serve as the Associate Medical Director for Primary Care at the Children’s Health Center (CHC), the pediatric ambulatory care center on the ZSFG campus.
The Associate Medical Director for Primary Care will become a member of the Pediatric Division at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, a dynamic group of 40 faculty members who are dedicated to health equity, scholarship, patient care, and medical education. Preference will be given to candidates with outstanding clinical and teaching skills, a demonstrated commitment to caring for pediatric patients from historically and currently marginalized communities, and a demonstrated commitment to academic medicine and education.
The Associate Director for Primary Care will partner with the Medical Director for the Children’s Health Center and other Pediatric, SFDPH, and Hospital leaders to have primary oversight, administration, and coordination over primary care programs in the CHC. Clinical duties will include outpatient primary and urgent care clinics, both alone and with direct supervision of medical students and residents.
Board certified in Pediatrics
California medical licensure or eligibility
Minimum of one year of post-residency experience providing outpatient clinical care to children from birth through 21 years of age
Demonstrated commitment to caring for pediatric patients from historically and currently marginalized communities
Demonstrated skills in collaborative teamwork and track record of leadership
Experience working with and supervising residents and medical students in a clinical setting
Bilingual (particularly Spanish)
Experience caring for children with significant social challenges and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
Quality Improvement experience and training
Prior experience with change management and leading administrative projects
