On a sunny Saturday March 4, 2017, over 50 pediatricians, friends, and family members gathered at the South San Francisco Basque Cultural Center for lunch to celebrate Beverly Busher’s retirement after 45 years of service to Chapter 1 as our ED. The day began with a chance for everyone to share time with Beverly and each other before beginning to eat. Zoey Goore our chapter president introduced Chuck Wibblesman who emceed the event. Stuart Cohen our California district chair presented Beverly with a lovely framed certificate from the National AAP commemorating Beverly’s devotion to the chapter noting that she was ED longer than any other ED in the history of the AAP. Chuck ably detailed her long history with the chapter and her major efforts to organize on behalf of children and the doctors who serve them. A wonderfully spontaneous outpouring of sentiment followed this from many of those present, including a number of past presidents of the chapter. All in all, it was a wonderful party for a lovely woman to whom the chapter is grateful. At Beverly’s request, no chapter funds were used, and excess money raised (more than $1900) was given to the Chapter foundation in her name. For any members who were unable to attend but still wish to donate, money can be sent to our new ED Rolf Davidson.
